Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. This therapy delivers high-energy shockwaves to specific areas of the body, promoting tissue repair, reducing pain, and improving blood circulation. It is a highly effective option for treating various musculoskeletal conditions.

Common Chronic Conditions We Treat:

Shockwave Therapy is renowned for its efficacy in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Achilles Tendinopathy

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Patella Tendinopathy

  • Morton’s Neuroma

  • Heel Pain

  • Calf Pain

  • Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathies

What Does Shockwave Therapy Feel Like?

During your treatment, you may experience a mild discomfort or sensation similar to the feeling of rapid tapping or pressure. However, the intensity of the treatment can be adjusted to suit individual comfort levels. While some discomfort may be felt during the procedure, many patients find that the benefits of pain relief and improved function far outweigh any temporary discomfort experienced during the treatment.

Our experienced and caring podiatrists will ensure that you are comfortable and informed throughout the process, addressing any concerns you may have.

At The Foot Company Podiatry Clinics, we are dedicated to providing you with the highest standard of care using advanced treatments like Shockwave Therapy. If you are experiencing chronic foot, calf, heel, knee or hamstring pain, schedule an appointment with us today to explore how Shockwave Therapy can help you keep doing the things you love.

What Does Shockwave Treatment Involve?

  • Number of Sessions: Treatment typically involves 2-3 sessions, with each session scheduled at weekly intervals. The specific number of sessions may vary depending on your condition and individual response to treatment.

  • Post-Treatment: After each session, you shouldn’t experience any negative side effects. You will be able to resume your daily activities post shockwave therapy. We do advise our patients not to do any strenuous activities for 48 hours post treatment.
